Can we afford our social programs?

As Bill Hicks says, “It’s just a ride.”

“The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here’s what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.” — Bill Hicks

Its just a ride.

Who is this simplistic and offensive egomaniac Bill Hicks and what is he dong infecting my computer? It was bad enough listening to his self aggrandizing drivel the first time but now it has replayed itself on my computer at the touch of the space bar. I could not find a way to shut it off! There was no screen open showing the video. It was just blasting out of my audio like the most annoying infomercial ever. “Oh the solution is so simple. Just buy food for the poor and forget it. Problem solved. And oh. Explore space too.” I nominate Bill Hicks to walk his talk. He should shoot himself into space. No space ship. No space suit. Just him in his black cowboy hat. Being all hat and no cattle how did he manage to leave this audio shit in my machine?

    • Wow, seems like an over reaction. He’s simply saying that there is plenty enough to go around, and that we have some choice about our consciousness. We can be driven like sheep by the puppet masters, or we can decide to play a different game.

I have no idea what the problem is with your computer, but I doubt it’s related to the video I embedded in my blog.
      BTW, he’s long since deceased.
